Raise your hand if your nipples are sore! Breastfeeding Mamas, WYA?
My breastfeeding journey has been supremely trying.
Throughout my pregnancy, I read every book I could get my hands on about nursing. I honestly believed that, if I studied well enough and had faith in the magic of motherhood, that breastfeeding would come naturally to me and my baby from the moment we met. Surely the painful and emotional struggles I read about in the mommy forums could never be me. How could they? I mean, I had studied after all! This makes me LOL now.
To make a long story short, that was not the outcome. My first 6 weeks were a hellish, uphill battle of pumping, lactation snacks, tears, and yes, supplemental formula. We can now proclaim that me and baby are EBF but I'll never forget the winding road we took to get there. Many first time moms will tell you that breastfeeding can be complicated and painful as hell; especially in the beginning. I experienced cracked, chapped, painful nipples, so sensitive to the touch, I couldn’t even wear a bra. With some trial and error, and much guidance from Amazon reviews, I have found 3 essential breastfeeding accessories that I cannot live without.
I sincerely hope they help make your journey a little easier!

1. Koala Babycare Silver Cups
If I had to narrow down the list to just ONE item that I absolutely could not have survived my journey to EBF without, these Koala Silver Cups would be it. Nearly every cream, lotion, and potion, that claims it will soothe and cure your cracked nipples, pales in comparison to the immediate, and
mess-free relief you get from the silver cups. They are available in both 100% Silver and Trilaminate Silver. I chose to buy the Trilaminate cups as they were a little expensive, (proud cheapskate) however, it is my understanding that it is merely a matter of preference. Amazon
2. Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream
So I know I sounded like a nipple-cream hater when I wrote about the silver cups. But there actually is one cream I can firmly stand behind, and that's Lansinoh's Lanolin Nipple Cream. I relied on this stuff alone to get me through the soreness, just until I got a hold of the Koala Silver Cups. Then it wasn't necessary for me to use anything else to soothe my nipples but for added relief I would slather this stuff on before placing the cups on and it is heavenly!
Now, I continue to use the Nipple cream as a lip moisturizer for my bub. It's 100% All-Natural, and contains one ingredient... Lanolin! Amazon
3. Frida Mom 2-in-1 Lactation Massager
I LOVE this little thing! My husband gifted me the entire Frida Mom Breast Care Self-Care Kit which was so sweet, but honestly, he could have just gotten me the 2-in-1 Lactation Massager. It warms, it vibrates, and it's waterproof! I slather on some coconut oil in the shower and massage away. Seriously, clogged ducts who? Amazon
This is very helpful. I've seen some of these and was seriously struggling to figure out what they mean. Thanks!
